Godfrey Aine Kaguta has defeated Shartsi Kutesa Musherure in the hotly contested race for the Mawogola North NRM primary parliamentary seat.

Final results from NRM Electoral Commission indicate  , Aine popularly known as Sodo polled 17,775 representing 46.3% while Musherure has 16,155 votes (42.17%) . The other candidate, Kiseka has 4,415 vote.

A total of 150 polling station went to the polls in Mawogola North on Wednesday, 30 September 2020.

However, despite the fears which saw heavy deployment from all security organs, the voter turned out in big number, with many NRM supporters seen lining up to support their candidates.

Security was tight in the area, with Deputy IGP Maj Gen Sabiti Muzeyi overseeing the deployment while NRM electoral commission chairman Dr Tanga Odoi is also monitoring the election that was postponed over violence.
