Amidst controversy and the wide spread of Covid-19 in Uganda, the Electoral Commission Chairman Justice Byabakama Mugyenyi Simon has asked Presidential Candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu to report to the Electoral Commission over what he called persistent breach of Election guidelines.
According to a letter dated December 10th and addressed to Candiate Kyagulanyi, the Electoral Commission Chairman pointed out that Hon Kyagulanyi actions were breaching the standard operating procedures meant to control the spread of Coronavirus.
Byabakama Mugyenyi pointed out that on 4th and 16th November and on 2nd December 2020, Hon Kyagulanyi did acts which are likely to spread the disease.
He reminded him that the Electoral Commission issued guidelines in consultation with the Ministry of Health which must be followed.
The Electoral Commission Chairman therefore asked Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu to report to the Electoral Commission on Monday 14th December at 10 am in person to respond to allegations which have been levelled against him.
The National Unity Platform (NUP) flag bearer Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu told NBS TV that he does not tell people to “Love Me So Much” and he will write back to the electoral commission.
Joel Senyonyi the party spokesperson said that their Presidential Candidate is being victimised for having big support where ever he goes and he has never invited people to follow him.
Here below is the letter Electoral Commission Chairman Justice Byabakama Mugyenyi Simon wrote to Candiate Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.
