The Uganda Independent Electoral Commission has cleared the National Unity Platform presidential flagbearer, Robert Kyagulanyi, to be a candidate.
November 3rd is a historical day in the history National Unity Platform (NUP) and the younger legislator Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Arias Bobi Wine after being fully nominated to contest for the highest office in Uganda.
Earlier in the day, there was tension after Bobi Wine reported that security plan to arrest him from his home in Magere, Kyadondo East.
However, Kyagulanyi managed to reach Kyambogo, the EC nomination ground amidst the mammoth crowd which thronged the way amidst tear gas shootings and two people have been reportedly injured.
Kyagulanyi said that after nomination, he will head to the party headquarters in Kamwokya to launch his manifesto.
Incumbent Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was nominated yesterday and headed to Speke Resort Munyonyo to launch his manifesto.
A list from the Electoral Commission (EC) indicates that Kyagulanyi, alongside nine other candidates, has already been okayed to be nominated to run for presidency in the 2021 race.
Others cleared include incumbent President Yoweri Museveni (NRM), Henry Tumukunde, Fred Mwesigye, Willy Mayambala, Joseph Kabuleta, John Katumba, Nancy Kalembe all Independents, Patrick Amuriat (FDC), and Mugisha Muntu (ANT).
